Mike Rea has over 25 years of experience in pharma innovation and is the CEO of IDEA Pharma, a division of SAI MedPartners. As a recognized leader in early-phase strategy and product positioning, Mike has shaped the trajectory of some of the industry’s most successful launches. He has been instrumental in the strategic direction of eight of the top 15 pharma product launches between 2015 and 2020, including three of the largest brands of 2024.

Known for his visionary thinking, Mike is the creator of the annual Pharmaceutical Innovation Index, which ranks the top pharmaceutical companies for their ability to launch new medicines, now in its 14th year. His thought leadership and industry expertise have earned him accolades, including being named one of the Top 10 Most Influential People in Biopharmaceuticals by The Medicine Maker and one of the Top 10 Innovators in Pharma by PharmaPhorum. He is also a lifetime PharmaVOICE Red Jacket winner.

Beyond his work at IDEA Pharma, Mike is a Senior Fellow at FasterCures (Milken Institute), an advisor to BioEthics International, and an advisor to OneHealth/FidoCure.

Outside of work, Mike is the Owner and Chief Musical Officer of Medical Records, an indie record label. He also created the UK College American Football League while earning a BSc in genetics.
